Pustarhut Holds Natural Silk Training in Building Human Resource Capacity Towards realization of Reference Silk Laboratory Indonesia | 17/05/2023

Bogor. Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Located at the Indonesian Natural Silk Laboratory Dramaga (LSAI), the Center for Standardization of Sustainable Forest Management Instruments (Pustarhut) held Moriculture Training and Natural Silk Sericulture in order to increase the capacity of human resources (HR).

The training was held in a hybrid manner and was attended by LSAI employees, implementers of activities within the scope of Instrument Development and Forestry Laboratory Management (PSIPLK), the Sumatera Regional PSKL Center, and related functional officials. The speakers in the event are silk researchers of the National Innovation Research Agency (BRIN) Dra. Lincah Andadari, M.Si., and Herman Sari.

Dr. Ir. Hernita Wahyuni., M.Si as the head of PSIPLK at the opening of the event emphasized that strengthening human resources and structuring employees in Pustarhut is the initial foundation for the implementation of LSAI management activities in 2023. "This training is the first step to make and revive LSAI independent, then it is hoped that it can be even better with the dream to become a reference laboratory for Indonesian silk maintenance," he said.

There are 37 types of mulberry collections and 54 types of strains collections from various races (Japanese, Chinese, tropical) owned by LSAI. "Collaboration certainly needs to be carried out not only with stakeholders, but also other laboratories owned by Pustarhut, for example with the Plant Disease Pest Laboratory," said Hernita.

The training provide modules in Moriculture (mulberry plant cultivation techniques as silkworm feed), and Sericulture (provision of silkworm eggs and activities to produce cocon). To improve participants' understanding, the training also provide practices in observation of silkworm rearing period at the Dramaga Silk Laboratory.
