Makassar. Monday, March 13, 2023. Located at Harper Hotel Makassar, The Center for Standardization of Sustainable Forest Management Instruments (Pustarhut) held Inhouse Training titled "Natural Tourism Management Based on SNI 8013:2014 and Digital Marketing of Palm Sugar Products at KPH Bulusaraung South Sulawesi Province". The Training is part of the activities within cooperation with AFoCO.  This activity is in synergy with the Makassar Environment dand Forestry Instrument Standard Implementation Center (BPSI LHK) and the South Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service.

"Maros Pangkep Regency has quite good ecotourism environmental service potential and a large palm sugar industry. Ecotourism development by the community, despite been going well, would still requires guidance, especially from the institutional side," said Haudec Herrawan B, S.Hut, MP, Head of the Forest Protection and Community Empowerment Section of KPH Bulusaraung representing the Head of the South Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service.

"Pustarhut continues to collaborate with stakeholders at the central and regional levels, so that the activities carried out are right on target and provide wider benefits," said Dr. Wening Sri Wulandari, Director of the Center for Standardization of Sustainable Forest Management Instruments (Pustarhut) to emphasize Pustarhut's role in carrying out its main function.

"The karst ecosystem of South Sulawesi Province has great potential for sustainable ecotourism development through the implementation of SNI 8013:2014 standards. Palm sugar products are potential commodities in KPH Bulusaraung which are still not optimal in marketing, pricing, and management," Wening continued to explain the selection of the inhouse training theme

"I think the decision to choose theme with attention to local flagship products is a very appropriate strategy, so that the inhouse training has a real impact and high benefits," explained Ary Sudijanto, Director General of BSI LHK in his opening remarks.

Ary also appreciated the support of all stakeholders in the regions, especially the South Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service and KPH Bulusaraung, academics, UPT KLHK and palm sugar and ecotourism business actors, in order to realize a wider contribution to forest resource management, especially karst ecosystems in South Sulawesi and provide alternative livelihoods for improving community welfare.

The inhouse training was held for 2 days and attended by 71 participants from palm sugar farmer groups, ecotourism management groups and extension workers at KPH Bulusaraung.
